My private higher education search, application, and selection consultations are tailored to each client and family. Regardless of your goals, academic record, talents, strengths, weaknesses, or timeline, I will guide you through each of the phases described below.

Freshmen

Many of the students I work with are high school students getting ready to apply to college for the first time. I help with all aspects of the application process beginning with talking about your strengths and weakness in the classroom, you and your family’s dreams for the future, and developing a list of colleges to which you might apply. Once we turn the corner into what I call “application mode” I spend a great deal of time helping you organize your application timeline, review applications, strategize about letters of recommendation, and when to take standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT. In particular, I put a lot of emphasis on helping you write your college essays and managing the large number of essays most student need to complete. I identify college scholarships that fit your profile and can help you understand the financial aid process. Along the way, I provide on-going academic counseling of a general nature that is geared toward helping you get the most out of high school and understand how what you do in high school may impact your college applications.

Transfers

More and more of the students I work with are transferring from one college to another. Transfer students have many of the same needs as first year applicants and I provide all of the same services described above. However, I have a keen appreciation for what makes transfer students different than those applying to college straight out of high school. I know that transferring has its own unique set of questions, challenges and opportunities.

Graduate

My work with graduate students is focused exclusively on personal statements and essays. If you already know to which graduate programs you would like to apply then I can help you craft your personal statement and assist with other required essays you may need for your applications.
